Youth Protection - Click Here

ALL REGISTERED ADULT VOLUNTEERS are required to be currently Youth Protection Trained. Current leaders will not be able to re-register at recharter time without current youth protection certification. This certification is good for two years from date of completion. Additionally, before a new adult volunteer will be able to register with the Samoset Council, they will need to take the Youth Protection Training and submit their certificate with their adult application.

How do I earn the "Trained" patch?

Once completing steps one and two, step three wraps the entire plan together specifically for your role in your unit. Position specific training collects best practices and resources from tenured leaders and presents it alongside basic program training. For example, Den Leader Position Specific Training will include information on how to put together a den meeting, ways to keep your Cub Scouts engaged, options for opening and closing ceremonies, and how to include an outdoor component to your activities. The BSA Learning Center is set up to create a learning plan based on your role. If you'd like to see exactly what training is required of each position, check out this document here.
