Camperships

The Tesomas Alumni Camping Trust has been established to assist any youth with financial need to experience camping.

After review of the campership application by the campership committee, a letter will be sent to the unit leader whose signature appears on the form informing him of the decision and of the amount (if any) that will be awarded to the applicant.

Winter Camp Refunds

Winter Camp fees are typically nonrefundable as we encourage Units to transfer fees to another Scout in the unit who is attending camp. However, the Council will deal with each situation in which a written refund request is received and endeavor to be as fair as possible.

  • Sickness, injury or family tragedy before camp resulting in the Scout not attending:
    • Notification before camp weekend - 50% refunded or 100% transferable to another winter weekend or summer camp in the same year
    • Notification at check-in or later - No refund.
  • All other reasons (baseball tournament, change in vacation plans, etc):
    • Notification at least 10 days before your camp date - 50% transferable to another winter weekend or summer camp in the same year.
    • Less than 10 days, no refund.

Winter Camping Tips

Stress to all campers that cotton clothing is not appropriate for outdoor winter activities. Cotton holds moisture and your body cools quicker with wet cotton than with nothing at all. Dress in layers. Pass on this warning!

Too much physical activity can cause perspiration which creates more moisture buildup in clothing than exterior snow. Don’t over exercise. Ventilate and loosen clothing as needed. Change wet layers before they soak others. Rest for 10 minutes after every hour of activity.

Even in colder conditions your body will need fluids. Especially with higher than normal activity levels. Make sure your Scouts are drinking plenty of water.

Food Allergies

Any concerns must be brought to the attention of the Winter Camp Director, Tim Sanford at 715-325-7755 prior to your camp weekend.

Equipment Checkout

Equipment that is checked out by your troop or crew members is their personal responsibility. Damage through negligence or abuse must be cleared up before leaving camp. Staff will be briefed on how to properly use the equipment as it is checked out.

In Case of Bad Weather

Hanna Winter Resort
Sessions are typically not cancelled for bad weather as one of the goals is the zero hero award. Leaders must decide if conditions are too hazardous for travel and must contact the winter director if you will not be coming. Otherwise refunds will not be available.

Polar Cubs
Sessions will only be cancelled in extreme conditions. If this happens the unit will be notified and a make up weekend will be scheduled for February 22-24.

Emergency Contact Information

If personal mobile phones do not work to contact a camper for any emergency need, contact the Winter Camp Director, Tim Sanford at 715-325-7755.
