Samoset Venturing

In 2007 Samoset Council began to put a renewed focus on Venturing. We have established a Council Venturing Committee, a group of dedicated and experienced volunteers, to help you deliver the Venturing program to your youth. We are prepared to support you in your efforts to recruit and train new youth and adult members, organize a new unit or implement the program and much more. If there is something we could help you with please feel free to contact any of us.

In 2008 Samoset Council repositioned the professional staff so that all Venturing units are served by the same executive. Michael Oehmke, Senior District Executive, is now responsible for the Venturing program council wide. Each unit will retain its current number but will be served as one group rather than small parts of the six districts now serving Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Michael works out of the Wausau Homed Scout Center and is available to support your unit needs.

Fall Venturing Event

Time is getting closer for Samoset Council Fall Venturing Event. This year's event will be on Oct 24-26 held at the Hanna Venture Base in Rhinelander. We are planning to do C.O.P.E. , Climbing, have a self-defense presentation, Adult Discussion, Games, and a Road Rally. Cost for this event is $30.00 R.S.V.P. by Oct 3, 2008.

Venturing 10th Anniversary Photo Contest

What images do you think best reflect the essence of Venturing? Capture them with your camera and then enter your favorite photographs in the “Venturing 10th Anniversary” photo contest. The contest is open to all registered youth members of the Venturing program. Photos will be judged in four categories:

Wildlife
People
The Spirit of Venturing
Spirit of Patriotism

Leader Roundtables / Teen Leaders Council

All leaders are expected to attend the quarterly roundtables to receive new program information, as well as share ideas with other Vennturing leaders. Meetings are held every several months in conjunction with the Teen Leaders Council. These meetings are held at the Wausau Homes Scout Center. Check the calendar for upcoming dates.

Recharter

Recharter information has been mailed out to all Venture Crews who have a Charter renewal in the next few months. Please make sure this gets to the leader in your unit who will coordinate the re-registration effort. The recharter this year will again be processed through the online system available on the Council website. Be sure to contact each family in your Crew and ask them to continue in the Venturing Program.
