New BSA Website for Troop Leaders

Troop Leader Resources (troopleader.org) is a brand new, authorized Boy Scout website developed to help ensure that troop leaders have fun meetings with positive outcomes. The site is designed to do this in a colorful and informative way. It’s aided by videos and photos of real Scouts in real troops.

Blue & Gold Resources

The Blue and Gold Banquet is a highlight of the year bringing together pack families for a dinner and fun celebrating the "birthday of Cub Scouting." It's called "Blue and Gold" because those are the Cub Scout colors. Blue represents truth and loyalty, and gold represents good cheer, happiness, and helping others. The purpose of the Banquet is to mark the organization of the Boy Scouts of America in February 1910 (Cub Scouts were founded in 1930).

Along with dinner, provide entertainment – skits and songs by the boys, or bring in entertainment. Include the Cub Scouts in preparation, decorations and the program. However your pack celebrates Scouting's birthday, it will take planning and everyone's help.

Contact Kristin Woller (715-355-9680) in the Samoset Scout Shop for everything you need for a Blue and Gold celebration!

National Jamboree 2017

Don't miss out on the biggest gathering Scouting has to offer, the 2017 National Jamboree. Experience hundreds of adventures over ten days, for a once in a lifetime experience. The 2017 National Scout Jamboree will be held from July 19 to 28, 2017. The Samoset Council will send a council contingent consisting of 2 Troops (72 Boy Scouts/8 Leaders) and 1 Venturing Patrols (8 Venturers/2 Advisors) to the Jamboree. Youth registration for the 2017 National Scout Jamboree is almost full.

Safety Moment

Safety Moments are exactly what the name implies: opportunities to prepare for an activity, review safety measures, and report incidents correctly. This month features transportation.

Driving can be one of the most dangerous forms of travel. Motor vehicle accidents can lead to serious injuries and even fatalities—not only for the driver but for passengers and others on the road. In addition to the huge impact an accident can have on the Scouting family, motor vehicle accidents have historically represented the most frequent and severe claims to the general liability insurance program.
