Scouting Opportunities Internationally!

Links - Just Click:

Have you thought about traveling to some exotic international location in Europe, Far East, the Americas, Africa or even the Arctic – there are Scouting opportunities for Scouts and adult leaders.

Scouting began in England in 1907, based on the ideas of founder Sir Robert S. S. Baden-Powell and his book Scouting for Boys. The book and program proved to have universal appeal for boys and quickly spread worldwide. The Scouting idea spread around the world until it became what it is now—the largest voluntary youth movement in the world, with a membership of more than 25 million.

The American arm of the Scouting movement—the Boy Scouts of America—was incorporated on February 8, 1910, by W. D. Boyce.

Through the BSA's International Division, American Scouts and international Scouts are provided a common resource of programs, funding, and training that increases and enhances their experience in the brotherhood of Scouting.

World Scouting

The World Organization of the Scout Movement (http://www.scout.org) is a federation of more than 149 recognized national Scout organizations.

Opportunities

There are too many international opportunities to enumerate in this brief space.  Check out the many links by clicking the last item on the menu.  Find some that intrigue you and continue the search.

Although some of these opportunities will take place in just a few months, they will give you some ideas of the many, many international opportunities for Scouts and Scouts.  These are truly ‘high adventure’.

If there is interest the Council can help organized ‘troops’ of participants as we do for Philmont, Sea Base or Jamborees.  Ask!

You can refer questions to Samoset’s BSA International Reo and save a little time.  So, contact – Intl. Rep Dick Judy or call 715-252-9660 or ask Council Staff.
