In order for us to have a great program for our youth we need trained leaders. Are you trained? Marsha Salzwedel, 715-305-397 salzwedel.marsha@marshfieldclinic.org

FRIENDS OF SCOUTING

Thank you to all those families and businesses that have made contributions to this year’s Friends of Scouting Campaign (FOS). Your donations help assure that we can fund a quality program for our youth. We have not yet reached our goal for 2008 and could use the help from those who have not yet donated or may know of other families or businesses that may be potential donors. In particular we would like to target those businesses that our volunteers work for. It is much easier to secure a donation if there is someone that knows the right people to ask at the right time. That is where you come in. Please consider approaching your work for a FOS donation and ask them to support another year of Scouting. Please contact your FOS chairmen Jim Nikolai, Community FOS Chairman, nikolaiins@charter.net, 715-387-1736 and Family chairman Dave Weber, bliss@tznet.com, 715-676-3170.

BRIGHT IDEA FUNDRAISER

This fundraiser is a way that you can help pay for your Scouting activities while promoting a simple change that helps protect the environment. Scouts can sell ENERGY STAR qualified CFL (Compact Florescent Lamp) which use 70% less energy, produce the same quality of light and last 10 times longer. Saving energy benefits us all in the end by resulting in using less fossil fuel to produce our electricity which in turn cuts down on pollution. For every light bulb sold, $2 will be donated to your unit. Some other groups have already raised over $30,000 with this fundraiser. If you would like more information please contact, Carlos Martinez, carlos@samoset.org 715-581-6311.

SCOUTREACH’S NEW LEADER

I would like to welcome John Haggerman to our Scouting Family in Ojibwa. John is a student at UWSP majoring in sociology and has Boy Scout summer camp experience in Missouri where he is originally from. He will be working with me on giving additional leadership to our afterschool Scouting programs. If you are lucky you just might see John at a Scout event near you. As luck would have it we also have another John who will specifically be helping out with our Marshfield afterschool Pack 398. John Ertle is a student at UW Marshfield, hails from Park Falls and is an Eagle Scout. He is also rumored to be able to make a mean monkey fist.
