Summer… When Good Events Happens

Part of the promise of Scouting is getting outdoors and doing fun things, but in a place like Wisconsin, sometimes it's tough to get outside in winter. However, in summer some packs have a tendency to slow down, and we really encourage them—through roundtables and other training events—to keep going over the summer, because that's when good events happens. Download the packet to find out how your pack can keep busy over the summer and earn the Summertime Pack Award!

Buckboard Skills Day

This year’s Buckboard Skills Day marks the 4th annual event in the Northwoods District. It will be held at Camp Flambeau in Lugarville, WI on July 26, 2007. The Buckboards used are scaled-down models of the Old West Wagons. This should be one of the BIGGEST Cub Scouting events of the year.  Scouts will enjoy a day of challenges and team-building experiences and a ton of FUN!!! Don't miss your opportunity to be part of this great event! For more information, please contact Lee Bergmann, lee-b@live.com.  See you there!

Roundtable Notes

Roundtable meetings are considered supplemental training for adult leaders and parents of Scouts. It is always at 7:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) located on West Hwy. 86 in Tomahawk. Roundtable meetings present theme activities that are all hands on— you will participate and do all the activities! These activities give lots of ideas on how to run your Pack meetings and Den meetings. Each lesson is reinforced with an activity of some sort. Resources? Many, numerous, loads of resources leaders can take back to their Packs!

Incentives? Yes - We have a fun bead program for participation—fill your lanyard with different shapes and colors as you attend and participate in all the activities presented. There is also a four section attendance patch that can be earned one section at a time. These cannot be bought anywhere; they can only be earned by attending the monthly meetings. Each year the dated patch is different—designed by leaders! A truly Northwoods collectible tradition!

Roundtable is the sharing of current information about upcoming events in the Scouting program. There are special split sessions focusing on the needs of Tiger Cub Den Leaders, Den Leaders, Webelos Leaders, Pack Committee Members, Cubmasters, each designed to meet the needs of these leadership positions.

Lastly, ALL of the activities at Roundtable Meetings are FUN! Your fellow leaders are great people dedicated to providing young Scouts with the best the program has to offer! The rest is up to YOU!!! Come and join your fellow leaders! Let us know what you think!
