Thank you to all the families and businesses in the Rib Mountain District that have contributed to the Annual Friends of Scouting campaign! Your financial support is critical to providing a positive Scouting experience to every youth in the Council. With the influences of today's society, Scouting's positive impact of installing character and values is even more important to our boys. I thank you again for your help.

Rib Mountain Awards Banquet

On Sunday, April 7, 2013, the Rib Mountain District held its Annual District Awards Banquet at the Elk’s Club in Wausau Wisconsin. The Annual Banquet is the District's chance to recognize those Scouters that have shown outstanding service to the Scouting Program, within the Units, our District or our Council. It is the District's way of saying, "Thanks for the extra effort you have given Scouting!"

The Square Knot Awards were presented to Mike LaPorte of Troop 400 and Curtis Wolfgram of Troop 438. The Tomahawk Award was presented to Terry Bennett and Randy Gilray, District Committee Members. Scouter of the Year Award for Cub Scouts was presented to Brenda Langlois of Pack 409 and Scouter of the Year for Boy Scouts was presented to Thomas Olhoff of Troop 419. The Scouter Couple of the Year Award was presented to Craig and Kelly Lang of Troop 462. Cub Master of the Year Award was presented to Dan Riehle of Pack 439. Scoutmaster of the Year Award was presented to Mark Ebert of Troop 435.

The Rib Mountain District Distinguished Service Award was presented to Jack Gostisha, Unit Commissioner and Richard LaCerte, Past District Chairman. The Rib Mt. District Award of Merit was presented to Aaron Keen of Troop 462 and John Pellegrino, District Commissioner.

Dave Burish was presented the traveling Old Crow Award. The Old Crow is presented to a member of the Rib Mountain District Committee or Commissioner Staff. Lisa Reynolds and Jack Gostisha were presented the Tin Toad Awards. The Tin Toad Award is not to be confused with the Silver Beaver Award. The Tin Toad Award is presented to a fellow Scouter who can take a joke and is known to have been wrong at least once in his or her life!!

John Miller and Dave Burish were each presented with a Citation from the State of Wisconsin and U.S. flag (flown over the State Capital building) by State Senator Jerry Petrowski.

Congratulations and Thank you to all these award recipients. Also Thank you to all the Scouters not listed here that have given their time, energy and treasure to the Scouting Program!

Rib Mountain District Pinewood Derby Was Held on Saturday, April 27th at the Wausau Center Mall

Fifty-six Scout Winners from 21 Packs in the Rib Mountain District competed to find the fastest Pinewood Derby Car in Wausau Area!

The results are IN:

First Place: Pack 409 Even Pupp
Second Place: Pack 434 Collin Socha
Third Place: Pack 438 Randy Sullivan
Fourth Place: Pack 400 Jonathan Keller

Special thanks to Pack 465 for sponsoring the event with their new, slick, aluminum track with computer timers and slide show!

Special thanks to Shane and Nicole Brod and all of the Pack 465 staff for transporting and running the track and announcing the event!

Thanks to Dale Morehouse, Kurt Trittin, Joe Gagas, Tricia and Scott Nest and so many more on the District Pinewood Derby Staff for planning and running this event!

Thanks to all the Cub Scout Leaders of Rib Mountain District who build cars with their Packs, ran their own Pinewood Derby Races and support our District race by bring fans and our Scouting Family to this District Event.

Finally we want to thank our Cub Scouts who came and showed their best manners and true sportsmanship to the Wausau Public! You are all winners and make us Proud!
