CHUCKWAGON AT MINNOW POND IN EDGAR
The 22nd Annual Ojibwa District Chuckwagon is scheduled for Saturday, October 23rd. Pack 337 has volunteered to run this excellent event and we are still looking for more volunteers to help us plan and put on this event. Please contact Laurie if you can lend a hand, 715-581-6311 or laurie@samoset.org. More information will be available at the August Kickoff.
YEARLY PLANNING
As your units meet in August for your yearly planning meeting, some things to have on hand are: council & district calendar (download from www.samoset.org), holiday schedule and school calendars. Then insert all the meeting, camping, activity dates. After that, remember to create a budget. Fundraising is an important part of everyone’s activities for 2010-2011. Recruit a popcorn kernel and make sure they attend training in August. Also, plan another fundraiser in spring. Other than popcorn all fundraisers must be approved ahead of time by filling out the “unit money earning application”, located on the Samoset website.
OJIBWA DISTRICT LEADER AWARDS POTLUCK DINNER
Thanks to the District Committee; Dr. Frederick Prehn, Samoset Council President; and Mike McCarthy, Samoset Council Scout Executive for making the Awards Banquet such a huge success this year! We had increased attendance over last year, everyone greatly enjoyed the event and no one went away hungry. Special thanks to all of our volunteers; we greatly appreciate all your support and dedication Scouting program this past year.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE
Ojibwa District would like to thank Lorrie Krokstrom and her nominating committee. These community members have been speaking with their friends and co-workers about becoming a scout volunteer: William Penker, Teacher and former Police & Fire Commissioner; Shirley Mook, Member of Rotary and retired CDA Director; Robert Haight, Marshfield Fire & Rescue Department, Deputy Chief – EMS; Todd Diedrich, Marshfield Savings Bank; Lori Belongia, Marshfield Public Library Director; and Richard Lamermayer, Boy Scout Volunteer and Teacher. If you know any of these nominating committee volunteers, please be sure to thank for supporting Scouts. These are some of the positions we need to fill as soon as possible: Members-at-large, Unit Commissioners, Membership, Finance chair, Activities chair, and Promotions. The District Committee meets the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00pm at Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. It is not necessary to be a scout parent or scout leader to be on the district committee. Please contact Laurie if you know someone who would be interested or for more information, laurie@samoset.org or 715-581-6311.
SCOUTREACH
ScoutReach is an opportunity for boys who have not already joined a traditional Pack or Troop to experience the Scouting Program. We currently have four ScoutReach units in Abbotsford, Spencer and Marshfield. These units hold meetings twice a month at the after school programs. These boys get to experience scouting when they might otherwise get the opportunity to be involved with scouting at all. Since this is an after school program, there is no parent involvement, usually because of the parents work schedules. If you would like to learn more about our Ojibwa District‘s ScoutReach program or would like to become involved, please contact Laurie at: laurie@samoset.org, or 715-581-6311.
