Adopt-A-BuildingWhat Does Adopt-A-Building Mean?Simply put, we need your help in maintaining our camps. Walls need to be washed, buildings need painting, windows need caulking, doors need tightening, and the list goes on. If your unit commits to at least one weekend a year, the time you put in will save the Council, and ultimately you, several thousand dollars a year. Plan a weekend with the unit, and make a few improvements to the cabin or area of your choice. And, if you’re not sure what to do contact the Council and we can provide you with a list of projects just for your building. So grab your paint brushes, rollers, screwdrivers, and other tools to make camp better one brush stroke at a time. Is There a Cost? How’s FREE sound… Well, maybe not always free. After all, what does free mean— isn’t your time worth a lot? You have to plan your weekend, supply your own food, bring help, and perhaps even some extra tools. The Council will provide, (pending budgets) the materials for the projects, and any guidance you may need. Some units in previous years have spent a lot of time and effort for example; making buildings better, building signs, and cleaning trails to name a few, with funds they use from their own account just to help camp. Ask your parents, leaders, and friends. Do they have extra cleaning supplies? Are they electricians or plumbers in your unit? Research where you can get extra supplies from, or are you willing to spend $50.00 to make a small improvement to the project. The possibilities are endless. How Do We Sign Up?First, you need to decide what area and or building you would like to maintain. Then just send all inquires to Elvis Bauman ) and we’ll be in touch with you. Within a few days we’ll contact you with ideas on how you, your unit, and even friends can help and benefit from this great project. |
