What's Unique about Cub Scout Camp

  • Camp helps develop character, introduce new friends, teaches valuable life skills, and helpsboys discover new interests.
  • Campers are assigned to a “super den” and stay in platform wall tents with flush toilets and hot shower facilities nearby. Adults sleep on cots and the youth are given mats.
  • Homesickness is rare because the program is packed full. If it does happen, the staff is trained and ready to give extra individual attention.
  • If parents cannot take the entire time off from work, their son can still attend. Scouts want to come! Parents are encouraged to rotate their stay with other Den parents in this case.
  • We encourage lots of enthusiasm in the Dining Hall during meals, so please join in on the fun!
  • The health forms you will turn in at camp will remain at camp after you leave, so please provide us with copies and retain the originals.
  • For your swimming experience we have the beautiful spring fed Crystal Lake (no pool).

Incentives to Bring Everyone

85% or More Club

If you bring 85% of the registered Scouts in your unit, we will provide Tesomas units steaks Tuesday night and Akela’s World units s’more fixings one evening, for everyone in your unit at camp. You will also get the opportunity to carve a wooden plaque to display in the Dining Hall for everyone to see in 2008.

When registering for this club, please provide an official unit roster (this includes Samoset and non-Samoset Council units). Off-site trek units who qualify should send their rosters to camp two weeks in advance.

Get Another Unit to Experience Our Camps

If you assist in recruiting a unit of 10 or more boys to be first time campers at Tesomas, Akela’s World, or Hanna Venture Base we will waive the fee for one of your Leaders.

Pre-Camp Swim Tests

Units have the option to complete a swim test prior to their arrival. By participating, you will save valuable campsite setup time and time at Huck Finn’s for Cubs. This will also make it easier to do individual unit activities before you come to camp.

  • Units may complete their swim tests through one of several council swim nights in the spring. See the packet for locations and times.
  • A trained staff will certify that each Scout and Scouter completing the test meets the requirements for their skill level.
  • Units may also complete swim tests prior to camp on their own. A BSA Lifeguard, Red Cross Lifeguard, or equivalent must administer the tests and certify the results.
  • For questions contact Michael or Scott at 715-355-1450 or camp@samoset.org
  • PreCamp Swim Test Packet
