Checking Into & Out of Camp

Akela’s World Check-In Process

  1. Arrive between 1:00 and 1:30 pm with your entire Pack or Den ready to check in. Have your health forms accessible at arrival. A staff member will greet you in the parking lot and guide you through the check-in process.
  2. You will receive a packet including a roster listing everyone we expected and who has paid. You will also receive a list of advancement options and the Scouts signed-up. Review and make any changes necessary. A remaining balance can be paid in the camp office.
  3. Visit the Dining Hall for “table waiter” briefing and medical checks.
  4. Tour the main camp area.
  5. Your group will be assigned to a “Super Den.” Move into your Densite and unpack. Please fill each tent one at a time: four youth to a large tent, two adults to a small tent (unless married, men and women cannot share a tent).
  6. Be ready for your first program at 3:30 PM.

At least one Leader from every unit will need to attend the Leader’s meeting right after supper and before the evening activity in the Program Center.

Akela’s World Check-Out Process

  1. Following your final breakfast & slideshow you will be dismissed. Pack up your gear and pick up litter.
  2. Designate one adult to collect patches, slideshows, pay remaining fees, and turn in evaluations at the camp office before you leave.
  3. Sign up for Polar Cubs and Akela’s World 2009. For more information about year-round camping opportunities see page 66 or contact the Wausau Homes Scout Center.

Units can reserve space for 2009 by filling out the unit reservation form along with a $50 unit reservation deposit. This fee will be applied to your first camper deposit due April 1st. Many units sign up as early as the annual March Camp Preview meeting. You may now also reserve space online.
