Leave No Trace Trainer Program
Scouting has taken on Leave No Trace as an integral part of its outdoor program. We presently have 21 LNT trainers in place in Samoset Council. This spring, we, again, are offering a LNT Trainer course to interested adult scouters and for the first time, to Scouts desiring to serve their units as Troop LNT trainer, an Eagle qualified leadership position. Completion of this two Saturday course will allow the trainer to run LNT Awareness sessions for units, districts and other interested parties. Scouts wishing to attend this course to serve as Troop LNT trainers must be at least 14 years old, a First Class Scout and have submitted the written approval of your Scoutmaster.
The course is divided into 2 sections: the first, an all day indoor session where the participant will gain an in-depth knowledge of LNT principles and training techniques and the second, an outdoor session where participants can practice their teaching skills and LNT techniques with their fellow participants. Participants should bring a bag lunch to both sessions.
